Wakefield Hospice is a locally based
charity that has committed the last 17 years to helping, caring and
supporting individuals and their families as they face a life
threatening illness. On average, the Hospice caters for 268 in-patients
and 1,800 day care attendances every year. No charge is made for care,
so we rely on fundraising initiatives and the generosity of the
community to help meet its yearly running costs of approximately £2.5
million.
Our multi-disciplinary team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists,
complementary therapist, occupational therapist, artist, social worker
and chaplain plus support services; cooks, domestics, caretakers,
receptionists, office staff and fundraisers.
At the Hospice we…..
* Provide specialist palliative care for people with life
threatening illnesses usually, but not exclusively cancer
* Have an in-patient unit and a day therapy service

* Serve the city of Wakefield and the surrounding areas
* Aim to maintain and enhance the quality of life for our
patients
* Treat all patients equally with dignity, sensitivity,
compassion and understanding
