Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation is a registered charity which supports the work of Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The Charitable Foundation was established in 1998 by a group of local people who cared greatly about the Hospital and who wanted to help fund those extras that NHS funding can’t provide. The Foundation’s first appeal raised more than £400,000 for a new Leukaemia Unit and they have gone on to raise £450,000 for the Children’s Lighthouse Centre, £700,000 for a new state-of-the-art heart monitoring system followed by The Pinpoint Cancer Appeal which raised £500,000 for an image-guided radiotherapy equipment. The StrokeBusters One Million Pound Appeal is the most ambitious appeal yet and aims to provide a gold-standard Stroke service at Southend Hospital with a new 14 bedded Acute Stroke Unit, state-of-the-art equipment and enhanced rehabilitation facilities. Once completed the Unit will help to reduce the level of disability in stroke patients and ensure that we offer our community one of the top Stroke Units in the country. |
