Barts and The London Charity is an independent charity funding innovate healthcare and medical research at Barts and The London hospitals.  The Hospital’s serve Europe’s most diverse communities – from the wealthy financial districts of the City and Canary Wharf to some of the UK’s most deprived areas – as well as receiving referrals from the entire country.

The hospitals offer a full range of routine and specialist services, including cancer, cardiac, trauma, gastroenterology, paediatrics and emergency care.  Our goal is to enable these leading institutions to achieve even more – and to do that, we need your support.

Key facts about the hospitals:

• Our leading Children’s Hospital cares for 40,000 patients a year and has the busiest paediatric accident and emergency (A&E) department in the UK.
   
• The London Chest Hospital is one of the country’s leading cardiac centres.  The heart attack centre treated over 1,600 patients in its first 2 years. Traditional treatment methods in the UK achieve a survival rate of approximately 88 per cent in heart attack patients, but doctors at our heart attack centre have increased this to 95%.  An extra 120 lives were subsequently saved in the centre’s first 2 years.
   
• Cancer affects one in three people in the UK.  The Barts Cancer Centre treats over 3,000 patients each year and our specialists are at the forefront of cancer research, driving innovations in clinical practice and treatment.
