Against Breast Cancer is a registered charity (1121258) funding unique research into breast cancer.

Our aim is to find vital information to increase survival after diagnosis and ultimately discover a vaccine that will protect women from more that 85% of known breast cancers.

Breast Cancer is now the most common form of cancer in the UK.

  • In the last 20 years, rates have increased by more that 50%.
  • Each year more that 44,000 women will be diagnosed (that’s more that 100 women a day!) and 13,000 will die of the disease.
  • It is the most common single cause of death amongst women aged 35-54 years in the UK.
  • A staggering 1 in 9 women in the UK will develop the disease.

The Against Breast Cancer research team has a unique approach to breast cancer in that it looks at the whole woman: her tumour, her response to the tumour and her environment. The researchers want to know why cancer travels to other part of the body and how this can be prevented; this emphasis on the prevention of secondary spread of the disease is ground-breaking in breast cancer research.

Our Diet and Lifestyle Study, the largest of its kind in the world, is working with women who already have breast cancer to find ways to maximise their survival. It is taking place in 50 hospitals around the UK.
